Conference – the first of

Eewei currently works as Solution Design Director at BSkyB where he's in charge of creating amazing experiences for Sky customers that strategically meet business needs, online, via mobile and interactive TV. Eewei has some great 'firsts' under his belt, from designing the first secure online musical distribution service (pre iTunes) to launching the first UK online music publication (nme.com). Eewei loves to be 'hands-on' and aside from the day job he runs workshops in the design, start-up and agile community.
Many companies, in their haste to be first to market, forget the value of good early, strategic design thinking when creating a product or service. This results in mediocrity, and ultimately leads to an unloved brand experience where consumers become fickle and disloyal. Now, whether leading a design team, sitting on the board of directors or starting up a company, UX practitioners have made their way back up the value chain and have been re-empowered to make decisions that really can change the world.
Eewei's talk centers on the fact strategic design is critical to the success of the business and pulls together his insights and leanings to help set those brave enough to take on this responsibility in the right direction. Eewei will also talk about how to straddle the cross roads and actively connect that emotional relationship between the business and design.
Often, too much time is wasted creating that 'big design upfront' only to find that users don’t like what you have built once it has been released. Today we are in danger of not only over designing, but also designing solutions for the wrong problems. Join Eewei in his inspirational workshop and learn how to use game-storming techniques to help ensure design solutions for the right business problems can be delivered to the right target audiences, rapidly and continuously.
Participants will learn how to create design solutions fast, as a team, and with clients, to get products that really matter out onto market quickly. This collaborative workshop will also take the attendees through the key stages of the design challenge, including empathy mapping, idea value map, user journeys/paper prototype, business modelling and elevator pitch.
